Obituary of Brian Clayton

On Thursday, April 20, 2023, Brian William Clayton left to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ at the age of 78 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. He has been reunited with his parents Stanley and Hilda (née Cook). He leaves behind his daughter Kelly and his 3 grandchildren; Walker, Garret and Emma.

Brian worked as a freelance photographer and journalist for the Associated Press, was the property manager of the Lord Simcoe Apartments, assistant manager at the Continental Inn for ten years and manager for two years. Brian was a strong advocate for non-kill shelters for animals. He loved taking photos, even as a hobby. They say "if you do something you love, you'll never work a day in your life' This is how Brian saw photography. In his youth, he was a Champion Hurdler for Canada. He also enjoyed watching soccer (football), football and hockey cheering for Manchester United, Sanfransico 49ers and the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Brian was shown the way to Christ in 2011 and allowed Jesus into his heart the same year. One of his favorite bible verses was: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight"Proverbs 3:5‭-‬6 NIV. He has had a strong faith ever since. He will be missed terribly by everyone who had the opportunity to meet him but especially by his good friends Earl Spenser, whom Brian had known for over 30 years, Linda Bissell who was Brian's bestfriend, co-worker as well as his caregiver for quite some time, Ralph Dietz who would make coffee and walk around the buliding with Brian every morning, Terry Boyes his neighbour who was always watching out for him and his fur niece Chloe.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. A time for family and friends to comfort one another has been put aside on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 6:00 p.m until 8:00 p.m at Essentials Cremation and Burial Services in Niagara Falls. A funeral service in Brian's memory will take place on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m at Grace Gospel Church 5855 Valley Way, Niagara Falls, ON with a light luncheon to follow. If desired, donations can be made to The Grace Gospel Church Christian Motel Ministries.

Dear Family and friends of Brian,

I met Brian when I lived in the Lord Simcoe Apartments years ago. We had very many interesting conversations about God and faith, and he was always open to seeking and learning.

Brian was a great Superintendent and would go above and beyond. At that time, Brian lived with his Mom and took over her position at Simcoe Apartments, when she no longer could. Brian loved his Mom dearly and helped her in any and every way he could. He had a ready smile and hello to everyone!

I am so glad Brian asked God into his heart, many years later,
even after I moved, I prayed for him and that God would guide him through his friends and acquaintances, and He did! Thank you, Lord, for this special human being who helped make this world a better place. And Thank YOU to all his family and friends who supported him each step of the way!

I’m sorry I could not attend the services today, but my thoughts and prayers were with Brian and all his family and friends. R.I.P.

I met Brian when I was a volunteer with the Continental Motel Ministry from 2011 to 2015 or 2016. He received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 2011, and was a man of great talents through his life. He had a great sense of humor and took his work at the Motel very seriously. Brian took his faith in Christ Jesus serious, and worked hard alongside of Linda Bissell for sometime for the motel and ministry. Linda and her dog Chloe became Brian’s best friends. His daughter, and grandchildren were number one to him, I loved Brian dearly. The joy I have is knowing Brian is with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, and I will see him again soon.

I will miss Brian. He was always in attendance at the church services every Sunday. He would, when he was in better health always encourage the speaker.
He was a true believer in the Lord Jesus. His life-style reflected that.i will miss seeing him sitting in his chair .
He will be greatly missed by all at the Continental Inn
