Obituary of Brian Bergsma
It is with broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of Brian Bergsma on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at the age of 66. He has been reunited with his parents, Anna (née Vroegop) and Kornelis Bergsma and brother-in-law Peter Glover. He leaves his beloved wife of 41 years, Priscilla (née Byers), and their three children: Kevin Bergsma (Candice Cropper), Becky Bergsma (Rick Goemans), and Brian Bergsma Jr. (Samantha Brophy). He cherished his role as a grandfather to Shauna, Paisley, Kohen, Oliver, and Manz. He will be missed by Arisha Bergsma, mother to Paisley and Kohen. Brian also leaves behind his siblings: Henke Glover, Gordon Bergsma (Anne Braithwaite), Anna Lugg (Paul), Folkert Bergsma (Jacqueline), Kevin Bergsma (Thomas Chiao), Vicky Bergsma (Michael Kolkum), and his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. For 36 years, Brian dedicated himself to his work as an auto mechanic at Brian Cullen Motors, where he was known for his generous nature and unwavering support for friends and colleagues alike. His playful sense of humor and presence lit up every room he entered. It wasn't a party until Brian got there and he had an extraordinary ability to make every gathering memorable. He always had a nickname for everyone and a "special" greeting for those who knew him best! Brian loved spending time thrifting, traveling, shopping, socializing, and he particularly enjoyed breakfast at Johnny Pastramis. He was a true neighbour who was always there when you needed a hand. Whether it be fixing a car, a washing machine, a lawn mower, a neighbour’s kids bike or mending and patching clothing.
Brian was a jack of all trades who never said no and always found a way to fix anything.

I was so very sorry to learn just today about Brian’s passing. We’ve known each from childhood. As adults we ended up living in the same neighborhood . He always stopped to say hello while driving past. Gone far too young and he will be missed. Thoughts and prayers to his family

Saddened to read a letter recently about a special friend, acquainted thru my brother and my nephew years ago, very much skilled and capable in the trade chosen as a trusted mechanic, thru the years of visits along side my chevy impala and mini cooper, not without a large tea from Timmy’s to a smiling face, he was a welcome friend to my family, my friend, always available preferably thru a text message, he was on loan to us for a short time, now he’s gone, I will miss him, please accept my condolences to his family., for the record, I was dubbed with the same nickname as by my brother Harvey, — uncle —

Dear Priscilla, Becky, and all the family, I’m so sorry for your loss. I will remember Brian with love for his hugs, his visits with his Pake and Beppe when he would bring coffee and donuts and spend time with them, and when he ‘just stopped by’ to talk with Jerry about anything and everything often with much laughter. He will be missed, and my heart goes out to you., Sending you a hug, Tante Dianne
Brian started out as a friend of my father. He quickly became a friend of our entire family. Sending my sincere condolences to Priscilla and his children.
Brian was such a great guy, unbridled sense of humour and so generous with his time and talents. He will be missed by so many but most especially by his kids and loving wife Priscilla. It was an honor to know him and to have shared a laugh or 3 with him over the years. Rest in peace Brian!!!

It is unfortunate to see Brain go! He was the first to come to us and make us feel comfortable in a new neighborhood. A great neighbor whom I got to speak to daily. Will miss him.
