Obituary of Blanche Lorraine Konyi

Surrounded by the love of her family, Blanche passed away on August 26, 2022 at the age of 74. Beloved wife of the late Louis (1999). Loving mother to Brenda (Chris), Cheryl (Bill), and Lisa (T.C.). Blanche was the proud and cherished Grandma to Brandon (Erika), Justin, Kelsey (Megan), Nicholas, Devin and Michel. Great-Grandmother to Jack Henry and Finley Ann. Dear sister to Florence, Johnny (Lorraine) and Edna (Eddy). Blanche will also be fondly missed by many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Predeceased by her sister Shirley.

Blanche was a longtime Niagara resident, having been born in Niagara Falls on May 14, 1948. She grew up on the family farm, which she always looked back on with fondness. Those who knew Blanche best could attest to her strong-willed and strong-hearted nature. She was a warrior, having been through so much in her lifetime but persevering with dignity and grace. You could always count on Blanche to tell you how it was, and to be there for you no matter what. Blanche had a love for animals, especially cats. She also enjoyed Bingo, Yahtzee, gardening, and loved going out to restaurants (especially Swiss Chalet!). Blanche dedicated her life to her family, and nothing made her more proud than being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Family meant absolutely everything to her.

Blanche resided at Millennium Trail Manor for several years. The family wishes to thank the nursing staff, PSWs and recreational staff for their friendship, kindness and compassion. Blanche loved so many of the nurses, and the family appreciates all that they did to make their mom's time there more comfortable.

In keeping with Blanche's wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at Essentials Cremation and Burial Services, 102A-4300 Drummond Rd., Niagara Falls on Thursday, September 1 at 6 p.m. An interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery on Friday, September 2 at 10 a.m. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Diabetes Canada or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
