Obituary of Barbara Ann Nobes

It is with profound sadness that the family of Barbara Ann Nobes (née Hammond) announces her peaceful passing at home on Sunday, May 10, 2026, at the age of 70. Beloved wife and best friend of Paul Nobes, Barbara was a gentle, steady presence whose love and devotion were felt by all who knew her.

She will be forever cherished by her siblings: Doll Clarke of Corner Brook, Newfoundland; Maxine (Cyril Vokey) of Fonthill, Ontario; Ruth (John Minhinick) of Wallaceburg, Ontario; Bud (Cheryl) Hammond of New Brunswick; Bill Hammond of Niagara Falls, Ontario; Doug Hammond of Niagara Falls, Ontario; and Maureen (Richard St-Cyr) of Renfrew, Ontario. Barbara’s memory will also be lovingly held by her many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were blessed by her kindness and quiet strength.

She is predeceased by her parents, George and Ella Hammond, her sister Georgia Hammond, and her brother Jim Hammond.

Barbara was loving, thoughtful, and deeply caring. She enjoyed the simple joys of life, especially going for walks and she had an unwavering love for her family. Helping others came naturally to her; it was simply who she was.

Though she faced many years of illness, Barbara met each day with courage and grace, always trying her best and offering smiles even when times were difficult. Her resilience was an inspiration to those around her.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the home care team who supported Barbara throughout her illness, with special thanks to Eileen and MaryAnn for their compassion and dedication, and Amanda from Ontario Health At Home.

In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, cremation has taken place. As an expression of sympathy, donations in her memory to the Stamford Centre Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses would be sincerely appreciated by her family.
