Obituary of Arnold Sigismond Daley

It is with great sadness that we announce Arnold Sigismond Daley peacefully passed away after a brief illness on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. Born and raised in the Caribbean Island of Monserrat, Arnold lived in England for fifteen years before settling in Canada in 1970. Arnold was an intelligent, patient, loyal and deeply caring man who was the eternal optimist. Arnold had a great sense of humor which was accompanied by his deep, hearty laugh. He was always a great listener who enjoyed conversation and was truly, genuinely engaged and interested in each and every conversation he had.

Throughout his life religion was important to him and he was grounded in the Methodist church and faith. He shared his faith through his ministry as a clergyman for many years. Education was also very important to Arnold and he was highly educated earning separate degrees in Theology, Social Science and Psychology. He attended Oxford University and University of London in England as well as the University of Windsor and Brock University in Canada. He loved to learn and equally enjoyed teaching others. He was an author and wrote many books including books for Chinese students learning English and adapting to life in Canada. In his youth he was an active sportsman as an amateur boxer and cricket player. Later in life he enjoyed watching all sports.

For Arnold, being a family man was what he felt was his most important role in life. He was proud of all of his children Marvin (Jackie Santin), Gareth, Renee, Sheldon and Nathan. He was excited when Marvin’s daughter Eve first made him a grandfather and was equally thrilled to be further blessed with grandsons Harrison (Marvin) and Roshaun (Gareth).

Arnold will be forever loved and remembered by his loyal and loving wife Elesa Jinping Wu, his children, grandchildren and Nora Daley. He will be missed by his siblings: Elaine Rinu, Doris Weekes, Flora Jeffers, Raymond Daley, Judith Daley, Verene Daley, also by his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, especially by his long-time friend Mr. Smith. He was predeceased by his infant son Ronon Daley (Ying Da Wu), and his siblings: Ida Sylvan, Roy Daley and Luella Daley-Farage.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services (905-354-2133). A private service for his family will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021, followed by burial at Fairview Cemetery, Niagara Falls. Online condolences may be shared on Arnold’s tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com

Lurline & Family would like to send our Deepest Sympathies to Elisa & all the family. We would like to share a Poem by William Morecomb.

For a second you were flying
Like you always wanted to
Now you’ll fly forever
In skies of azure blue
We’ll see your smile in every ray
Of sunshine after rain
And hear the echo of your laughter
Over all the pain
The world’s a little quieter now
The colours have lost their hue
The birds are singing softly
And our hearts are missing you
Each time we see a little cloud
Or a rainbow soaring high
We’ll think of you and gently
Wipe a tear from our eye.
