Obituary of Annette Hogg

Peacefully, on Friday 21st May 2021, at the Eventide Home in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Annette Hogg (nee Hendry) passed away aged 83 years.

Beside her, and sharing her final moments were her husband of more than 60 years, Robert (his Sunday name!), but best known and loved by us as all as Bob, along with her close friend and confidante Michelle McCarthy, and in the presence of Major Renee Clark from The Salvation Army, who run the home where Annette spent her last few months being cared for.

Originally from the mining town of Loanhead in Scotland, Annette and Bob emigrated to Canada in the 1960’s where it became their home and where they both obtained their Canadian citizenship.

Her siblings equally are shared between Canada and Scotland and, sadly, some of whom have made their journey before her.

A loving Mother to the late Gary, who died so suddenly on 12th February 2016, mother-in-law to Patricia, and Grandmother to Lyndsay-Ann and Jeffrey. An aunt to many nieces and nephews, but particularly close to her nephew David and her niece Valerie both of whom, along with their respective families, have enjoyed many happy moments with her – both in Canada and within the UK.

Throughout their time in Canada, Annette and Bob have lived in various locations within Toronto, Mississauga, North Bay, Innisfil and latterly in Barrie – but never venturing outside their beloved Ontario.

Annette lived a full life, worked in a number of positions from Simpson’s Department store in Toronto to a Manager with Peterson’s Electrical Store to a Doctor’s Secretary – but wherever she worked, she made her presence known and is remembered in good standing by all that she encountered.

Annette, loved to travel, be it on a cruise, to the USA, to Scotland, to Ireland – although the simple highlight was her long held desire to visit Gracelands in Memphis, Tennessee which she achieved back in October 2014.

As a person she will be remembered with great love and affection by her family and many friends - but will forever be remembered for just “being Annette”

At Annette’s request, a private cremation has been arranged.
