Obituary of Amy Ruth Cunningham
It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Amy Ruth Cunningham, on August 9, 2024, at the age of 49, after a very courageous battle with cancer. A loyal mother, daughter and sister, Amy won the hearts of those around her with her frank honesty, fiery spirit and untempered resilience.Amy's heart was as vast as her struggles were deep and despite the trials she faced, she had a zest for life that shone brightly. She brought a very unique flair to our family. She had a way of making us laugh about mundane things with her sharp wit and street-smart style. Amy's trademark was a fierce intensity, for whatever it was she was trying to accomplish, no matter the outcome. She loved her daughter, her family, her pets and the people in her life with no bounds. Seyene was and always will be her greatest accomplishment.... she is the light of her life.
Despite facing significant challenges with addiction and mental health, Amy exhibited incredible strength. Her journey was NEVER easy, but it was marked by moments of profound love and connection with her family. Through Amy's struggles, we learned the importance of compassion and understanding. We cherish the memories of laughter, shared stories, and the love we experienced together.
Amy is survived by her daughter, Seyene; parents, Paul and Margaret Cunningham; sister, Patty Bedard (Paul), who will forever hold her in their hearts.
Following Amy's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private funeral service will take place at a later date. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate Amy's life and the joy she brought to our lives. We encourage anyone who is struggling with similar issues to seek help, remembering that there is always hope and a path toward healing.
We graciously ask that any donations be made to a mental health or addiction support organization of your choice.
Rest in peace dear Amy. Your light will continue to shine in our hearts.

I miss you I just wish alcohol hadn’t torn us apart you were the sweetest most loving woman sobe you will truly be missed
I met Amy working in collections many years ago and continued to talk throughout, even as recently as June we chatted about life and illnesses and addiction. I ALWAYS found that she gave me 100% of her attention whether texting or in person. Her fiery attitude matched her beauty red hair. I deeply appreciated her friendship and words of encouragement throughout my own health issues. I just found out today on her Birthday that she has passed. My late but heartfelt condolences go to her family, daughter and friends. Love you girl. We’ll meet again one day. Xoxoxo
My deepest condolences to Seyene.
My deepest condolences Mr. And Mrs. Cunningham and Patty and Paul.
We had some ups and downs and with all my heart I loved her I I think of Amy every day and kno she’s in a better place Till we meet again Amy ❤️
My condolences Paul and Maggie. Amy always held a special place in my heart. We met as children then lost touch. As adults we reconnected as no time had passed as well and had a close personal connection she was a one of a kind loving beautiful person. Once again we lost touch then one night she reached out for some help and I swore I’d never lose her again. Now the loss of her is final she takes a large piece of my heart with h her. Till we meet again my love wait patiently for me as I did you.
My condolences Paul and Margaret ❤️
I only met Amy in May of this year. She shared a room with my Mom at niagara general hospital. My mom was 89 years and could not get out of bed herself or walk herself. From the start Amy took my mom under her wing
She would get anywhere my mom needed and she would go down to Timmy’s and her and my mom would have coffee together. I was so thankful for her
My mom’s heath detected fast. When Amy was discharged and went home .my mom missed her
Unfortunately Mom passed away. I was so happy to have Amy with my Mom. May she rest in peace
