Obituary of Alix Ann Morgan
It is with great sadness and enduring love that we announce the passing of Alix Ann Morgan on November 21, 2024, following ten years living with vasculitis, in addition to these past six months with melanoma cancer. She leaves behind her loving husband Rich, their beloved daughters Sara (Daniel Philpott), grandsons Harry and Oliver, and Melissa (Jamie Cameron), granddaughters Bowen and Maeve. Alix is survived by her younger sisters, Pippa Cherniavsky, Tessa Cherniavsky and Jan Snow (Duart Snow) and nieces and nephews.Alix was born in the Dominican Republic to Ann and Peter Cherniavsky. She grew up in Vancouver attending Crofton House School, University of Victoria and University of Western Ontario. Alix and Rich began their married life in Calgary, Alberta, moving with their two little girls east to Oakville, onto Fonthill in Ontario. As retirees and snowbirds, they enjoyed warm winters in Scottsdale, Arizona, under the shade of their renowned lemon tree.
A natural organizer, Alix had a unique gift for bringing people together. A devoted mother, Alix was involved throughout Sara and Melissa’s school years, early years initiating a neighbourhood babysitting co-op, and heading up the Family Guild through the girls' high school activities. Alix’s commitment to her numerous communities included welcoming and introducing new residents to the neighbourhood, lending a hand to friends in need, and bringing family together and celebrating life. Alix’s selflessness, positivity, and thoughtfulness, was deeply rooted in her passion for volunteering. What Alix gave in her boundless generosity was reciprocated in a richness of wonderful friendships.
In 1990, Alix discovered her passion for golf, joining Rich as an enthusiastic member at Lookout Point Golf Club in Fonthill and Terravita Golf and Country Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Alix and Rich shared a love for travelling, exploring many parts of the world. Alix embraced every new journey with curiosity and an open heart, always seeking joy in each experience.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the friends and family who offered unwavering support during Alix’s final months. Your thoughts, visits, and messages have meant the world to us.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wellspring Niagara or Vasculitis Foundation of Canada. Alix will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kindness touched many lives and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
The family would like to thank Alix's medical teams including, Dr. Khalidi (Vasculitis), Dr. Lee (Oncology) and Colleen, Joyce, Melanie (Palliative Care and MAID).
As Alix would say, “IIDLS” or toodles.

Rich and family,
We are deeply saddened to find the reason we have not received our annual Christmas communication. Our fond memories go back to Alix training Alan on business etiquette at Can Sup, dining on cold pumpkin soup at the Morgan’s and Rich clearing the table, and 2006ish reuniting in Calgary as if we had never missed a day.

Rich, Sara, Melissa and families
We have heavy hearts hearing of Alix’s passing. She fought such a tough battle. She is at peace now and will be missed by so many. I remember so well golfing with Alix back in the early 90″s. We had so much fun navigating Lookout Point as new golfers. So many memories including visiting your Arizona home and playing in Alix’s Member Guest. Alix always had a warm hug ready whenever we saw her and her smile lit up the room. Alix was a wonderful wife, Mom, sister, friend and so much more. She will be truly missed. Sending all of our love, strength and prayers.
Rich, Sara, and Melissa .. We send our deepest sympathy to you and the rest of your family.. Your obituary really captured how special Alix was. We feel privileged to have had her and your family in our Arizona life .Hugs to you all
Rich, I was so sorry to hear this news. When Lyn and I first met Alix all those years ago at one of George and Kaye’s great office parties in Calgary, we both knew you had been lucky to have found such a perfect partner. I know, from personal experience that losing your best friend is truly devastating. My thoughts are with you and your family at this very sad time.
I was a pretty new golfer and new to Lookout when one evening after golf, one of Alix’s foursome announced Alix had birdied 18! I didn’t know that was possible! That was my introduction to Alix. As I got to know Alix, I realized she was such an upbeat, positive person. And pretty humble about her golfing abilities.
Love to you, Rich and all your family.
In the great game of golf many people can come and go, but only a few will walk with you down the fairway of life. Thank you Alix to both you and Rich for walking with us down the fairway of our lives and Thank You Alix for the lemons. All our love Andy and Jeanne Glavac
So fortunate to have known Alix at Terravita. My sincere sympathy to Rich and family.
I will always remember Alix with her undoubted spirit and sharing of fun on the golf course.
Sincere condolences, Rich and family. Thinking of you all.
We have great memories of dear Alix, from when we were neighbours for so many years, “ just over the back fence!”
We are sending all our love and caring thoughts to you Rich, Sara and Melissa
and your families.????
Many, many hugs to each of you and my deepest sympathy. I have great memories of Alix when you all lived in Calgary and have so enjoyed the family photos she sent every Christmas to go on my ‘Morgan Pages’ in a photo album. I knew Sarah and Melissa and small girls and Alix has been wonderful in keeping me up to date once in a while. Yes, this is part of her excellent organizing skills. We had many laughs when we worked together at ‘Canned Soup’ as it was affectionately called. I have no doubt her spirit will live on in the girls and their families. Love to you all,
I’m sending all of you hugs and my prayers through this condolence letter. I joined your mom on a breast cancer walk in Toronto many years ago, I enjoyed getting to know her, and her energetic, outgoing response to a great cause. I see where you girls got your spirit of energy and generosity of life from. Sending this I hope it brings you a small piece of comfort, and peace as you go through your memories and journey of acceptance and grief. xo lori
We send our deepest sympathies at this time. Alix will be so missed. Her wonderful smile & joie de vivre were such an inspiration. Our love to Rich & family. You are all in our hearts. Much love to all
So sad to hear about Alix’s passing. Our children went to school together in Fonthill and we served on the Parent Guild together. Whatever project we were asked to do, what I remember most is her laughter and joy. And, her pride and joy of Rich and “her girls” was at the centre of her life. She was love personified. Now heaven has another angel…..God bless Rich and family. Know she lives on in the hearts and memories of so many.
Our heartfelt condolence to you and your wonderful family Rich. Alix was a very special person as she made all of us buck up and look at the best of every situation, especially health issues. She was a warrior and will be remembered as a good friend. Hoping you will find comfort with your family around you and your extended family and friends in Terravita. Thinking of you all
Alix always enjoyed entertaining in a tasteful way that perfectly suited the occasion. An invitation from her was always a gathering to look forward to. Alix was so kind to gift me with a very special invitation in the last hours of her life. It was an honour and privilege to share in the most intimate moment of her passing. Thank you Rich, Sara and Melissa for welcoming me into your loving fold.
My deepest condolences to you and your family Melissa. May you all continue to shine her light with your memories when you gather as she rests in peace xo
Rich, so sad to hear this news. Just happened to see on FB. Please know we are thinking of you and have you in our prayers. Haven’t seen you for a while, but thinking of the times we spent together.
Thank you Melissa.. What a wonderful woman. One can see the strength, and clarity in her eyes. I shared with Rich my losing a young wife, and the book that got me through it (Sylvia Browne The other side and back).. Please read it. My wife appeared to me 3 months after her death at 3AM.. She was standing at the foot of the bed, shimmering, and light.. She said: “listen as i only have a minute. Where I am seventy or eighty years is the snap of a finger. I will see you tomorrow… I’m fine, and I need you to be fine too, and I love you” What this did for me was everything.. I no longer had to go on just faith that there was a heaven, as she was speaking to me from it. Sylvia talks about all of this in her book/s
God bless you and your sister, and your father Rich.. You come from good stockand are an inspiration to us all, with how bravely you have walked this journey.
By the way. Teressa was the last one to play golf with Alix. Teresa was having a bad day, and Alix said: “keep your butt on the wall” That tip is her swing thought to this day.
What a beautiful picture of a very classy and loving lady! This is such a loss to the Morgan family, my sincerest thoughts are with you all. We treasured the times we spent together with you and Alix, in beautiful Arizona.
I am so saddened hearing of Alix’s passing. I never remember meeting her but she sounded like a true Cherniavsky.
Saddened to hear of your loss. We are thinking of you all.
Rich and family,
Our heartfelt sympathies for your loss. My parents loved spending time with you both in Terravita.
Dearest Rich and Family,

Alix definitely did all she could possibly do to deal with her illnesses. May she Rest in Peace.
Keeping you in my heart. Marilyn Will

It was always fun and I felt wonderful meeting Melissa and her family (Alix, really wanted us to meet them and so happy it worked out).
She will be missed so much and we look forward to wrapping our arms around all of you when we see you here in Terravita. OXOXO God be wih you.
