Obituary of Alice Lorraine Rougoor

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Alice Lorraine Rougoor (nee Smith). Born on January 8th 1936, in Nappan Nova Scotia and passing away peacefully in her 91th year on June 27th, 2026. Predeceased by her husband John W.W. Rougoor (1999) of almost 36 years. Her father Harold Elton Smith, mother Cassie Bell Smith (Clark), her brother Elton Smith (Waverly) and her sister Dorothy Smith. Alice will be sadly missed by her three sons, Harold (Angie), Jerry (Melissa), Wayne (Christina), and grandchildren Drake, Atlas, Jordan, and John. Her three nieces, Sandra Porter (Ian), Janice Appleby (Bill), and Heather Briant (Tom). Alice will be fondly remembered by family friends Darcie Rougoor and Rebecca Rodgers.

Alice was born and raised in Nova Scotia before a short stay in Montreal, Burlington, and then settling in Niagara On The Lake, Ontario in the early 1960's. Becoming a Registered Nurse and working in Tabor Manor retirement home in St. Catharines for many years, while raising a family. She had a love for bingo and travel and had the chance to visit quite a few beautiful places in her life.

Sadly as the saying goes, "all good things come to an end", but with hope, this is a new beginning for her and now she is reunited with all her loved ones gone before her. Missed by many, never forgotten, and loved by all.

In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Alzheimer's Society of Niagara and the Greater Niagara Humane Society, would be appreciated by her family.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
