Obituary of Alexander Gervaise DeGaust

DEGAUST, Alexander
1934-2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alex G DeGaust (Doug) on March 31th in his 87th year. Alex was a loving dad to Cathy Teso (late Vic 2006), Karen Potts (Dave), Wayne DeGaust (Trish), David DeGaust (Megan). He was the best papa to Mike (Jess), Rob and the (Late Carla 1985) Teso, Amanda (Jay), Bryan (Alex), Sarah (Mario), Matthew Potts, Elaine (Jason), Emily, Shawn, Jack, Maddie DeGaust. Treasured great papa to Niamh Aurore.

It all started with “asking that little French girl to dance” and he built the life and family he had always dreamed of. Alex is now reunited with the love of his life, Aurore (2011) and together they will watch over all of us. Alex made many friends as he spent countless hours cheering on his grandchildren at soccer fields, hockey arenas, baseball diamonds, football fields, dance recitals and all school functions always with a Gatorade ready. Alex spent 5 proud years serving in the Navy. This led him to his successful 30 year career at the Ford Glass Plant, where he shared many memories with dear co-workers and friends.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. As per his wishes cremation has taken place, followed by a private family service and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jump Start Niagara, to help kids in sports; this would be greatly appreciated by the family. Online condolences and donations may be made on Alex’s tribute page found at EssentialsNiagara.com

“Dad/Papa your guiding hand on our shoulders will follow us forever. You will always be in our hearts forever. - Love your family.”

All our condolences to the family! He was such a great man. He will definitely be missed by all of us. Now he has gone to meet his wife (my sister) the one that he truly missed since she passed away. He will finally joined her. I will miss his stories about my childhood, his smile and humour. Rest in peace and we love you dearly xoxo

So sorry to hear about your dad/grandpa passing. I do miss the stories about the Ford Plant where he and Ron worked together. It was so nice to be neighbours at Portage Towers. I know you will all keep your happy memories close to your hearts.
