In Loving Memory of
Alan George Kinnaird
1958-2024
Obituary of Alan George Kinnaird
On Tuesday, February 20, 2024, Alan peacefully passed away at his home, in a room filled with love. To his dismay, he departed this world before the Toronto Maple Leafs were able to secure a win of the Stanley Cup. However, he left us with memories of his laughter and a gentle reminder of the joy he brought to our lives. He was a beloved husband to Rose, who was the anchor of his wandering heart; a special dad to Amanda; and an adoring grand-dad to his grand-dogger, Vixie. Alan was a loving son of Kathleen Romain, cherished brother to Sue (Matt), Peggy (Chris), Kim, Lisa, and Larry. He was also a dear uncle to many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and a dear member of a blended family that adored him. He was predeceased by his father, George (Barb), his brother Steve, and two nephews.Alan's early days were marked by his nomadic spirit, earning him the affectionate nickname "Alley Cat." However, after meeting Rose, his nickname transformed appropriately to "Home Cat," as he became deeply content and rooted in the warmth of his family life. Alan's life was a testament to his compassion for animals and children, his dedication to his family, and his remarkable skill as a woodworker. Following in his father's footsteps, he became a wood artist known for his creativity, humour, and a stubborn (or should we say, determined) spirit that made him the unique man we loved and will always remember. His love for nature and the great Canadian outdoors was only matched by his passion for adventure, which saw him travel across the country before choosing to build his life here in Niagara.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Raffael, the team of caregivers at the LHIN, and the Medical Day Clinic, as well as to all his friends and family members, for their continuous support during this time. In accordance with Alan's wishes, cremation has taken place and arrangements are entrusted with Essentials Cremation and Burial Services. A private gathering and celebration of Alan's life will be held at a later date.

I knew Alan from living 5 homes east of him. I could call him my best friend. We hung out for a number of years. Alan went a different direction from school and we lost touch. Alan was a true and close friend to me. It is so sad to see this obit. I had heard that his dad had passed and was looking it up when I just came across this. Alan and I were sometimes called the bobsy twins. He and I rode our ten speeds all over town. One day we were swimming near the international train bridge and Alan was so brave he climbed up to the top of the super structure and stepped off into the water. Feet first. I was a chicken to do it but he was so brave. When gettin out of the water after he said to me gimme your towel I ripped my cutoffs right up my crotch. We had fun in his 68 Ford Fairlane too I used to ride with him on his 250 Suzuki bike too. So so many great memories of our time as best friends. It’s so sad to see this obit. Your friend forever Alan. Paul Burger.
