Obituary of Shieleen Carey

It is with broken hearts we announce the unexpected passing of Shieleen Carey, surrounded by her family at St. Catharines General Hospital on September 15, 2021.
Cherished, loving and beautiful wife of Hardy. Dedicated and devoted mother of Devaan, Ariana and Jordan. She will be missed immensely by everyone she knew, especially her parents Anne and Douglas, her brother Chris (Bernice), her mother and father in-law Amelia and Werner, her sister-in-law Ingrid (Cian) and nephews Jack and Nolan, as well as her many other relatives and friends.
Shieleen had a successful career in the financial sector before dedicating her life to raising her three wonderful children. She was a fantastic mother, spending many years homeschooling and supporting her children in their pursuit of academic excellence. She was a great soccer mom, dance mom, and attended most of their robotics competitions over the years. Shieleen was always supportive and encouraged the kids to do their best in all their endeavours.

Shieleen loved baking and making delicious treats, filling the house with wonderful aromas. She also loved sewing, knitting, and crocheting, and was constantly working on a number of different projects to give to her friends and family. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts, scrapbooking, and making cards. She absolutely loved reading books of every genre, as well as solving logic puzzles, listening to many different styles of music, playing board and card games, enjoying family walks and hikes in the neighbourhood and nature trails. Shieleen loved nature, camping, and protecting the environment. She always helped others in need, and was always kind to animals. She also really enjoyed family visits, and loved festive gatherings.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place. The family would like to thank all of the healthcare professionals and staff of the Niagara Health system and partners for their care for Shieleen. A sincere thank you to our families and friends for their prayers and support throughout this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation to Hospice Niagara. Essentials Cremation and Burial Services Inc. (905-354-2133) are entrusted with the arrangements. To honour Shieleen’s wishes, a private celebration of life with immediate family will take place at a later date.
