Obituary of Gerald Paul LaFlamme Sr

Gerald LaFlamme Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his home on May 8, 2021 at the age of 77. Beloved husband of 49 years to Helen (née Soucy) and father of Nanette (Chris) General, Suzette Jackson, Gerald (Lisa) LaFlamme Jr and Nicole (Ryan) LaFlamme. Cherished Grandpa to Nole, Ava, Madeleine, Mya, Ryan, Kara, Raiden, Kiera, Daxon, Sienna, Jaxson and Arya. He will be missed by his sister Joyce (Aubrey) Ort, brother-in-law Dennis (Brenda) Soucy and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Predeceased by his parents Maurice and Blanche and his sister Doris.

Gerald enjoyed listening to country and fiddle music, dancing and watching auto racing, but mostly spending time with his grandchildren. Another favourite pastime of his was volunteering with his spiritual association.
The family would like to offer our sincere thanks and gratitude to the remarkable staff of Dr. DarGavel, Dr. Dooler, and Dr. Manser for their support and palliative care they provided to Gerald at home. Much appreciation for Cindy, the coordinator who made availability for all the assistance for palliative care, along with the occupational assistant and physiotherapist. Without the exceptional loving care of his nurses, Dawn and Jocelyne, caring for Gerald at home it would have been difficult without their help. The family would also like to recognize Tyler, the personal support manager, who arranged for all the PSWs from Care Partners who gave Gerald wonderful help. A very special thanks to the PSWs from Paramed who provided respite care.

Essentials Cremation and Burial Services has been entrusted with arrangements. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will take place at a later date. Memorial donations made to the Watchtower Society would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences may be shared to Gerald’s tribute page at EssentialsNiagara.com.
